Knockers v Jedis .
A rare wet summer evening provided the perfect backdrop to focus minds on the upcoming season, as 28 players battled it out in the penultimate fixture of the summer league.
Knockers held a slight lead coming into the round and started with rapid improver Chris Moores , who was looking to make a name for himself against Steve “Sumo” Paterson . Steve was also keen to put his new Japanese skills into practice. Steve ran out a comfortable 3–0 winner — ?????!???????! (Well done! Great win!).
Next up was Lee Bull , facing the feisty Lesley Cooley . It was another tight contest, but Lee secured another 3–0 for the Knockers.
Jayne McGrath then battled Ben Adams in a match that went all the way to five. Jayne's valuation continues to rise, as she took the deciding set and the match 3–2.
I was out next against everyone's favourite swamper, Darren Reid . Darren showed that he had some strong shots in his armoury, but faded as the match progressed, allowing me to claim another 3–0 for the Knockers.
Our very own Road Runner, Kev Ferguson , was up next against Variety captain Mark Evans. A good run-out for both players saw Mark fight back for the Jedi's, taking the match 3–1.
Chief Jedi Ged Clark then battled it out with LCC supremo Jason Hopkins . In another closely fought encounter, Jason edged it 3–2.
Finally, Neil Walker took on Karl Mullins at the top of the order. Neil went down 3–2, but it was another valuable haul of points for both teams. Knockers win 18-10
Stompers v Pokers
Stompers then took on the Pokers, with King Poker himself, Brian Parker , prodding his way to an impressive 3–0 win over Cliff Armstrong .
Roy Finney was next up against the improving Susanna Simoes . Roy's court craft ultimately proved the difference this time, as he took the match 3–1.
Dave Heaton then turned up the heat for the Stompers, impressing with a convincing 3–0 victory over Mark Irvine.
Paul Grannon was 1–0 up against Paul Smith before Smith retired as a precaution. Get well soon, Smithy !
The medical emergency brought Matty Smith into the tie, and he stepped up with an impressive 3–1 win over Crosby's Matty Fell.
Pete Barton then showed us all how to poke a ball with relentless force, beating Dan Parker 3–0.
Our superstar h Dave Louchlan ten took on LCC's very own star boy, Joe Walton , with Locky edging a five-set thriller 3–2.
That gave the Stompers a 14–11 victory over the Pokers . With plenty of close encounters and some excellent performances across the evening, the league remains finely poised heading into the final fixture.

With just one week remaining, the Knockers hold a six-point advantage at the top, while the Stompers remain firmly in contention. The Pokers and Jedi's are locked together on 54 points, setting up an intriguing final round.
