Crosby Lights v Heswall Racketeers
We rocked up to Crosby who were ready and waiting, looking to catch us cold. No sooner had we walked through the door, Matt Smith and I were on court – against our warmed-up opponents! My opponent Reece was young, fast and loose – how I like it and a comfortable 3-1 in the end. Matty Smith played the in-form Damien Boyle which, went to 5 sets with Matty delivering a vital win. Matt Stapeldon then filled in at 4, delivering a win against Crosby captain Steve Kyricaou.
Andy Corran is taking to racketball, he had a great time playing Ade, winning 3-1. Mike Beecham , sitting top of the order ran Alex Mannion into the ground recording another 3-1 win. Racketeers win 20-6.
Heswall Variety v Crosby Nicks
Martin Simpson was up first, playing ‘Sir drop a lot’ Tommy Stevenson – who recorded a good win. Dave Breen then stayed with Andy Chanter, working him out to record a good 3-2 win. Matty Fell achieved something few players do of late – beating our very own in-form Lewis Clarke in three close games.
Paul Rigby and Dan Parker both recorded impressive 3-0 wins against Nicks top order duo, Gary Powell and Jason Cunningham. Well played and a great win for Variety 14-8.
Heswall Fury v Xavs
Xavs travelled to Heswall a man down which gave Lee Bull a carded win. The impressive Mark Jones then made that two with a comfortable win over the experienced Wayne Bedford. Our Jersey friends Ian Noble and Nick Jones then beat our very own Kev Ferguson and Neil Walker to keep the tie alive at 2-2. Up stepped star man Dave O’Louchlan against the talented Shaun Hendry. Locky made a quick start and showed superiority with an impressive 3-0 win – sealing the victory for Heswall Fury – 14-7.
Neston v Heswall 57s.
Our 57s travelled to Neston with a late call up for Paul Grannon – thanks Paul. The lively and improving Ben Adams was quick out of the block – going 2-0 up against the experienced Heswall resident Andy Hurst. Andy fought back to snatch the game 3-2. Craig Beecham, Paul Grannon and Ged Clark had no luck with valiant efforts. However, top of the order Tom Clarke once agains delivered a winning performance, blowing Matt Slater away for a 3-0 win. Neston win 15-6.
Player of the week goes to Matty Smith for a very good win – despite the Crosby tricks!
Chris
