Crosby Lights v Heswall Variety
Jeff Moran made just his second appearance of the season as Variety patched up their side for a trip to Crosby. Unfortunately young Reece Manion was too much on this occasion. A late call up for Graham Rigby as he took on Chris Lucas, recording a fabulous 3-0 to keep Variety in it. Captains play off next as Mark Evans beat Steve Kyriacou 3-1. Lewis Clark then took on what looked a tough match – Lewis’s fine form this season contrinued as he beat Ade 3-1. Paul Rigby then sealed a good win with his own 3-0 playing at 1. Who needs Dan Parker?! Variety win 17-5.
Heswall 57s Crosby Nicks
Ben Adams was first out v James White. Ben was on fine form and recorded a very straight forward 3-0 – impressive stuff Ben. Seb Gardiner was up at four v Mr dropalot himself, Tommy S. Tommy dropped Seb out of the game – next time Seb! Matt Fell and Gary Powell had too much for John Dunne and Ged Clark Dunny, who battled well. Bob Mc , leading the line nearly took the first game before Jason Cunningham bounced back with a 3-0 win. Nicks win 17-3.
Heswall Racketeers v Heswall Fury
Paul Smith was up first against the much improved Steve Paterson . Steve battled well against a very strong number 5 – Smithy getting a good 3-0 under his belt. Another big climber this season is Mark Jones – taking the first game from Matt Stapldon was good but then Matt powered home with a good 3-1 win. Matty Smith and Kev Ferguson was a lively affair, with Kev taking a good game off Matt, who recorded a 3-1 win too. Peter Barton then copied the trend with his own 3-1 win against the impressive Neil Walker – a very likeable face around the club.
Mike Beecham then took on Dave Loughlin at the top of the order. Dave took a conduct warning before the match kicked off due to his distracting and/or obscene outfit – visable from space! It worked, as Locky put in a fantastic performance to win 3-0 and claim the club number one spot – after beating Tom Clark last week!
Player of the week is Graham Rigby . Standing up for your team when needed – love it Graham!
Two weeks to go!
Look out for Wirral Squash57 Open (Heswall) – Saturday April 25th. Thanks to Mike Harris (UK no.1) for his support – this is now a ranked tournament. A, B and C grades – still some spaces left.
