Presidents Report
2026 AGM
Heswall Rackets Club is looking forward to a bright new era. The addition of two
Padel Tennis Courts has to a large degree transformed the future of the club.
Heswall Rackets Club is vibrant with all areas enjoying a renewed positivity.
After completing the introduction of Padel Tennis Courts to HRC I thought my
admiration of the committee would likely never be surpassed. To their immense
credit the committee have not sat back on their laurels, but rather pressed on to
make every effort to ensure the future success of the club in its entirety.
The installation of the Padel Tennis courts is not the final phase but more the
beginning of a new HRC. With this in mind your committee have embarked on subtle
changes to the club, including additions to the bar in association with Budweiser,
upgrading the lounge area, heating on Court No4, outside seating area, extensive
CCTV, new main entrance and a new balcony to name but a few.
While the Padel subcommittee have moved forward maximising court revenue, the
house subcommittee, bar functions, squash subcommittee, racket ball subcommittee
and junior coaching. Have all made significant improvements in their individual areas
in an effort to ensure the club prospers as a whole.
As I have done in the past I would like to take the opportunity to express my
gratitude, without specific order to all committee members and volunteers who
continue to dedicate their time and effort in contributing to the future of Heswall
Rackets Club.

Membership continues to increase to a level, whereby the membership
subcommittee, chaired by Brian Parker, are discussing the idea of upper limits. Can
anyone believe that HRC are even contemplating membership limits?
With the ever increasing strong foundation brought about by the introduction of Padel
Tennis, your committees immediate objective is to ensure that success filters into the
club as a whole, driven by the subcommittees.
Improvements to the courts, bar, lounge, balconies and outside area all contribute to
the vibrant atmosphere permeating throughout the club. Your long suffering
Treasurer, Jeremy Heywood, almost skips to each committee meeting conveying an
ever improving financial outlook for the club. His demeanour changes rapidly should
a subcommittee dare ask him to fund a project. He does like to keep a tight hold of
the purse strings (as a Treasurer should).
The introduction of Sean Cove as head coach has been a marked success and
raises the profile of HRC locally. Sean not only acts as club head coach supporting
the established club coaches, but is able to promote the club and its facilities to local
and regional business.
Going Forward
Your committee will gently ensure that as Padel continues to prosper, it will mean
prosperity for the entire club. Further affordable changes may take place to benefit
the entire club.
The immediate focus now (of your committee) will be to change the entity of the club
to a limited liability footing. The process will be carried out in stages commencing
with the formation of a Limited Liability Company. Your committee is currently in
consultation with solicitors to start this process.
As in the previous Presidents Report, I again would like to acknowledge your club
secretary John Dunne. His daily presence at the club, whether fulfilling secretarial
responsibilities, maintaining Padel courts, organising junior programmes, or mowing
the grass, he exemplifies exceptional dedication!
Again my heartfelt thanks go to each and every member of your committee I could
single all of them out for one reason or another as they are completely fantastic.
The future of the Heswall Rackets Club looks bright. It only leaves me to thank all the
members both new and long standing for supporting your committee. We are seven
months into our new beginning on a journey we will travel together.
