Padel Project Report
At the last AGM the committee was authorised to progress with the plans to provide two Padel courts between the clubhouse and the Chester High Road at an estimated cost of £180k.
The club committed £40k from existing funds, £115k was raised through members loans and a loan of £45k was obtained from the Lawn Tennis Association Ltd.
The contract to construct the courts was completed in December at a cost of £144k, planning costs of £18k were incurred (mainly reports requested by WMBC) and there have been additional costs of almost £10k (electrical work, card readers, landscaping etc).
The project has been completed within the £180k estimate and under the sums raised to fund it. The courts became available at the end of December and we agreed a soft launch, restricting booking to members only whilst the systems were checked and tested.
Online booking for non-members, ie Pay & Play, was launched at the beginning of February.
A very successful open day was held on 31 st January attended by nearly 200 people through the day and over 30 new members were signed up.
Income from court bookings in the first full month of January was over £2,500 but the weather was dreadful. We hope to achieve the winter month target of £4,500 in February and March as the weather improves and Pay & Play comes on stream. The f igure of £4,500 is however just a target, and the amount needed to service and repay the loans is of the order of £3,000 for the winter months.

members all of whom have contributed, especially Ben on the technical side and Sean on site management.
