HRC Ladies Squash Team report 2025/26
Helo there fellow Heswall members,
The ladies squash squad consists of 12 players. We have 2 teams. 1 st
team of 5 players in division 2 and the 2 nd team has 3 players in each
team game in division 3.
The 2 nd team was born last season as a response to the Northwest
Woman’s squash league desire to increase the number of squash
players and teams in the NW league. Ann Agar rose to the challenge
and helped the team, during the first few games, to gain their
confidence. Sammie Grimwood has since taken over as captain and the
team played and enjoyed their first season. The 2 nd team has a squad of
5 squashettes and they have successfully rotated as players during their
1 st season. Initially it has been one game per month, to ease everyone
into the sport. However, this will change to more matches for the up-and-
coming season.
Well done to the 2nds.
The 1 st team started off with a win and continued this throughout the
whole of the season in div 2B. The only match we could not play was the
final game, so we had to concede a W/O. However, by this time we had
won the division outright with 224 points. Unfortunately, throughout this
time we had to play without Anna Webster, as she had sustained a bad
ankle injury just before the start of the season. We continue to hope she
will return and continue her squash journey. A quick mention of
Alexandra Hooper who has made stellar progress and everyone else
(women and men) need to watch out next year.
The team went to the div 2 play offs in April, which were held at Barnton
squash club to play University of Manchester who had won div 2A, and
have a very strong squad of teenagers and students. Heswall Ladies
team put up a very good squash fight but came 2 nd .
Thank you squashettes for still treading the squash boards and continue
to consistently turn up, play, win, cook food, and be GR8 team buddies.
